Abu Sayyaf may get fund from overseas Filipinos m

The Philippine military gave response to a report of the U.S. Department of State that the local terrorist group Abu Sayyaf were being funded by remittances sent by some overseas Filipino workers.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Spokesman Brig. Gen. Jose Mabanta said Thursday the military has no evidence that the Abu Sayyaf, which is behind a number of high-profile kidnappings and bombings, is getting financial support from the OFW.
"There is a possibility that a miniscule amount may end up being used or ending up in the wrong hand," he said.
"Remember that some of our Filipino brothers living in sensitive areas may have OFW family members and as remittances come in Tiffany Rings, it is really up to the family back (home) on how they want to use it," Mabanta said Golf Clubs, adding that some remittances are not coursed through banks and are thus more difficult to trace.
